Welcome to my blog! Life with Lex will be exactly that: my life! It will be a sort of journal including my latest travel, fitness, food and other experiences to share with my family and friends (and for me to look back on!). So, welcome! Here goes my first post...
Packing Up
I have always imagined my life to end up a certain way; I would go to school in a big city, become a CEO, a founder, or a creator of some sort, I would travel the world and leave my old life in the dust. So when I moved to New York for my freshman year of college, reality hit hard. It was much harder than I imagined to start the rest of my life. I was away from my family, friends, home, comfort of all kinds. This past year has proved to be full of much more struggle and anxiety than I anticipated. So when I was given the opportunity to pack up and move across the world, it only made sense that that's exactly what I did, right?
Prague
10 days ago I moved to Prague, Czech Republic for a semester long study abroad. I left home & family on January 25th, 2019. Despite Prague being a "big city packed with tourists", everything is so different. For one, it costs money to use a plastic bag for your groceries. And even worse, it costs money to order water at dinner! But, to my own surprise, I love it!

I have never been to a city quite like Prague. It is beautiful, but almost secretly so. It is often very gray, unless you see it in the right lighting. It is relatively convenient, my dorm is right next to a cafe, and down the street from a few grocery stores. But in order to fully feel this convenience, speaking the language is key. So to those of you who told me "English is spoken just as much as Czech, you won't even need to know it!", thank you... you truly tricked me. That just is not true. But the biggest difference from other cities, this place is always quiet. The subway is quiet, the streets are quiet, and come to think of it, I don't think I've even heard a dog bark.
Even though Prague often prides itself on the historical Charles Bridge and the delicious trdelnik (blog post coming soon about that guy), the best parts of Prague are actually hidden.
So over the semester, it is my mission to report on the best of the best. I will find the best cafe for a morning coffee, the best route to run, the best food to eat, and the best secrets to explore.
Until next time... Xoxo,
(a)Lex
