Hello Everyone!
I'm back again to share another weekend vlog!
Though I am working hard at school, I am really using this semester as a time to EXPLORE what this world has to offer. I have been to a few major European cities, ridden planes, trains and automobiles, (partially) immersed myself in multiple cultures, and I couldn't be happier. But with all this constantly going on, this weekend out in nature was MUCH needed.
This weekend we visited Broumov, Czech Republic. It is a city about 3 hours northeast of Prague, near the Polish border. It is a small city, about 8,000 people live there, and full of open fields, huge mountains, beautiful waterfalls & more.
Friday morning started with an 8am bus ride to this cute little city. The ride there looked eerily familiar... something a little like Ohio?!?! The long roads of nothing really took me back to those Lodi Rec. Center basketball tournaments I spent the majority of my life going to.
When we finally arrived in Broumov we stopped at the local high school, met some students, and participated in their English class. It is amazing how fluent these kids are especially compared to how terrible Americans are at foreign languages (and English considering I made about 18 typos in that sentence alone). That night we attended their prom which was NOTHING like ours back home (I have some clips in the vlog if you want to see what I mean... a.k.a. 50 year olds waltzing!).

On Saturday we drove out to the national park where we went on an 8 mile hike through the plains, mountains, waterfalls and caves. We only slipped on the ice about 100 times (also seen in the vlog). But the scenery was beautiful and I don't remember the last time I breathed in air that clean.

We even climbed up countless flights of stairs to reach a lookout over 2,000 feet in the air, which is shown in the picture above!

The weekend was nothing like I expected it to be, but it was definitely an experience worth having.
As for now, I better get back to studying for midterms and writing my paper about Ukrainian nationalism...
Thanks for staying tuned and being interested in my life!
xoxo,
(a)Lex
